Regular check-ups and medical screenings can save your life. Make the time to have these potentially life-saving tests performed. Routine Physicals - All age groups every 1-5 years (depending on your age and state of health) to include blood pressure checks, urine test,
Cholesterol Screening - Age 25 and over...every 2-5 years.
PAP Smear and Breast Exam - Women over 18 every year and breast self exams monthly. A mammogram should be performed yearly after the age of 40, or sooner if there is a history of family breast cancer.
Thyroid Stimulating Hormone - Women over 25...every 5 years since untreated thyroid problems can cause severe coronary artery disease and other major complications.
Testicular Exam - Men over 20 every 1-2 years and self-exam monthly.
Prostate Cancer Check - Men over 50..every year. (sooner if there is a family history or other risk factors)
Colorectal Cancer Screening - Starting between the ages of 45 and 50...annual fecal occult blood testing, sigmoidscopy every 3-5 years and colonoscopy every 10 years. (some doctors also recommend a barium enema every 5-10 years). Colorectal cancer is the second leading cancer-related cause of death in the U.S.
Bone Density Mineral Screening - Women over 50, or sooner if there is a family history of osteoporosis or other risk factors.
Diabetes Screening - Age 45 and over for those who have a family history of diabetes or who are obese.
Head-To-Toe Skin Cancer Check - All ages every 1-2 years by a dermatologist and self-exam monthly. This is one area that is often overlooked, but with melanoma on the rise, it is prudent to check out any unusual looking mole or freckle.
Glaucoma Screening - Men and women over 35 every 2-3 years. Glaucoma is the leading cause of blindness in the U.S. Early detection is crucial to preventing permanent vision loss.
Electrocardiogram (EKG) - Age 40 and older every 5 years.
Dental Check Ups and Cleanings - All ages every 6 months.
